About

Horseshoe is a literary magazine based in Corner Brook, Newfoundland and Labrador. Our name pays tribute to a longstanding tradition—the annual horseshoe tournament–held at the site of Al Pittman’s homestead on the banks of the Humber River–played for bragging rights by members of the English Programme at Memorial University’s Grenfell Campus, many of whom have made, over the years, substantial contributions to literature in Newfoundland and Labrador and beyond. The aim of this journal is to honour that legacy, and to continue its tradition of commitment to creative writing.

Horseshoe is edited in part by the graduate students of Memorial University, Grenfell Campus’s Master of Applied Literary Arts program.

Horseshoe is interested in innovative work from new, emerging, and established writers of poetry, fiction, and creative non-fiction. We also publish literary reviews, and author interviews.
